MFNE Is Giving Out More Sunscreen Dispensers
The Melanoma Foundation of New England (MFNE) is about to make summer a little safer.
Building on an effort it launched last year, MFNE will distribute 190 free sunscreen dispensers to 54 locations nationwide. The dispensers will be installed next month, and will come stocked with four, 670-application bags of SPF 30 sunscreen.
The municipalities and organizations receiving the sun protection kits were selected based on an application process unveiled earlier this year. Priority was given to New England organizations, so many local towns, non-profits, schools, and parks will be practicing safe skin this summer. You can find a full list of dispenser locations here.
In a statement, MFNE Executive Director Deb Girard said that this is only the beginning for the group’s sunscreen campaign, an effort to curtail prevalence of melanoma. “We are thrilled to expand on our highly successful pilot program in Boston and offer sunscreen units for public and private distribution throughout the country,” she said. “We hope sunscreen dispensers will become as commonplace as hand sanitizers over the next few years.”
Even if your hometown isn’t a lucky recipient of one of the MFNE sunscreen dispensers, consider this your friendly annual reminder to replenish your own personal stash of SPF. Your skin’s health depends on it.
