Remember the crushing disappointment when, despite reports to the contrary, Slide the City—the 1,000-foot, padded waterslide–never actually came to Boston last summer? We do.

True, it was a long shot. True, it’s difficult to fit a waterslide roughly the length of three football fields anywhere, let alone in the streets of Boston. We wanted it anyway.

While your city sliding dreams will, unfortunately, go unrealized for another year, there is a silver lining: Slide the City is coming back to Massachusetts this summer, with a confirmed stop in Holyoke on August 27. Tickets, which go on sale soon, range from $10 for a single ride, to $99 for all-day sliding. The unlimited option also comes with a tube, a hat, a t-shirt, a bag, and an undoubtedly sexy mouthguard.

Can’t make it to Holyoke? Slide the City will also make stops in Connecticut and Maine this summer. This one might just be worth the trip.

$10-$99, August 27, Appleton and High streets, Holyoke, slidethecity.com.
