The Globe’s Spotlight Team Goes Hollywood
DreamWorks Studios announced on Tuesday that they had acquired the rights to a film exploring the Globe Spotlight Team’s investigation into the sex-abuse scandal in the Archdiocese of Boston. As the Hollywood Reporter noted:
The team spent a year interviewing victims and reviewing thousands of pages of documents and discovered years of cover-up by Church leadership. Their reporting eventually led to the resignation of Cardinal Bernard Law, who had hidden years of serial abuse by other priests and opened the floodgates to other revelations of molestation and cover-ups around the world that still reverberate today.
It’s about time that we’re getting our own Boston version of All the President’s Men—the Globe‘s investigation went on to win a Pulitzer Prize and is one of the most important pieces of investigative journalism done since Watergate.
Which, of course, leads to the obvious question: Who will play the Globe staffers in the movie? Right now, the following individuals have sold “life rights” to the studio:
