Educational PC game villain Carmen Sandiego is back after three decades in a new iOS app called Carmen Sandiego Returns.

Launched on Thursday by Boston-based Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Co., the app revives the familiar, globetrotting criminal to sharpen players’ history and geography skills. While the game is designed for kids ages 9 to 11, adults feeling nostalgic can jump in on the action.

Players sleuth as ACME agents on a mission to capture the elusive Carmen Sandiego, whether she’s nabbing jewels from the Taj Mahal or stealing a cryogenic chamber in Berlin. To stay on her trail, users crack clues and and earn Carmen Coins along the way. From Rio de Janeiro to Singapore, players can explore cities in all 360˚ with iOS accelerometer functionality, tapping the screen to hunt for clues.

The app is Sandiego’s first leap from the screens of desktop computers and televisions to iPhones and iPads. She entered the market in 1985 with games for CD-ROM, and she made her public television debut in the ‘90s with the Emmy Award-winning TV show Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

Carmen Sandiego Returns is available in the app store for $1.99.
