Chicken & Rice Guys Opening Two Brick and Mortar Locations

A new fried tofu dish that will be available at The Chicken & Rice Guys two upcoming brick and mortar restaurants.

Everyone’s favorite purveyor of halal cart-style chicken and orange-tinted rice is becoming something of a mini empire around Boston. After only three-and-a-half years, The Chicken and Rice Guys has grown into a booming operation with four full-time food trucks, a growing catering business, bi-weekly pop-ups in the CIC building in Cambridge, and now, within the next couple months, two brand new brick and mortar locations.

Senior business manager Damien Yee has confirmed that the company has taken over the recently closed InBoston space at 85 Bedford Street, a Korean fried chicken and taco restaurant. The Downtown spot is currently under construction, and with minimal cosmetic changes planned, should be ready to open by early April. Yee says CEO Ian So is in the final stages of the restaurant licensing process, after which they’ll turn their attention to launching the company’s second brick and mortar on Salem Street in Medford Square, projected to open by late spring.

In addition to its everyday truck menu, The Chicken and Rice Guys will be adding some new items to their two new restaurants, including a couscous salad and a tofu preparation that’s battered in cornstarch and fried.
