Beyoncé’s Baby Shower Brunch at Back Bay Harry’s
The world is about to welcome two more Carters, and Beyoncé super fans are stoked. That includes the super fans at Back Bay Harry’s, who love to celebrate America’s true first family. This month’s Super Fan Brunch edition is a celebratory shower for Mrs. Carter, complete with streaming Beyoncé videos and performances, a soundtrack of Beyoncé’s greatest hits, and baby shower games and prizes. The three-course menu is Bey baby-themed, too, with options like OK Babies, Now Let’s Get In Formation Breakfast Sandwich, and a Blue-berry mule.

One Year of Bar Mezzana
Chef Colin Lynch has been filling the South End with delicate and delicious crudo and more for a year, and he’s bringing some friends in to celebrate. A VIP birthday party this weekend features bites from the James Beard award-winning chefs of Eventide, as well as Haley.Henry, Myers + Chang, Cafe Sushi, and an Island Creek Oysters raw bar, plus drinks courtesy of guest bartender Andrew Volk of the Portland Hunt & Alpine Club. Join the main event later on Sunday, with spritzes and blender drinks by Bar Mezzana’s Ryan Lotz, Italian sausages on the grill, a mozzarella bar, and a cart with house-made ice cream. There will be oversized patio games, plus DJ Brother Wayne spinning soul on vinyl.

Friends of James Beard Dinner at Oak + Rowan
Occasionally, local chefs head down to New York City to bring a taste of Boston to the James Beard House—like next week’s Soft Shell Crab-a-Palooza, with Tracy Chang (Pagu), David Bazirgan (Bambara), and more. But this week, they’re sticking around town to pay respects to the legendary chef. Oak + Rowan welcomes five all-star chefs into its kitchen this weekend for a seven-course meal, in support of the James Beard House National Scholars Program. Nathan Gould (O Ya), Will Gilson (Puritan & Co.), Karen Akunowicz (Myers + Chang), Carl Dooley (the Table), and Meghan Thompson (SRV) join Oak + Rowan’s Justin Shoults and pastry chef Brian Mercury. Among all the new outdoor options on the One Kendall Square plaza is a gigantic patio in front of the Smoke Shop. Celebrate the season with an old fashioned crawfish boil, with a stew of crustaceans, corn, and potatoes, plus corn bread, New Orleans barbecue shrimp toast, Creole boudin and mustard, and okra hush puppies with cilantro ranch. Harpoon Brewery and Deacon Giles Distillery will be on hand, and the bar team is whipping up a special Hurricane, along with the full menu of libations.

Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry
There are delicious events aplenty this and every season, but there are many people who in greater Boston who do not have enough. More than 270,000 children in Massachusetts struggle with hunger, but you can step up to help. All proceeds from this annual food festival go to the local branch of No Kid Hungry, a campaign by Share Our Strength to eradicate childhood hunger. Last year, Taste of the Nation raised more than $140,000 for the effort. Contribute while also eating your way around more than 60 participating restaurants, like Little Donkey, Buttermilk & Bourbon, Craigie on Main, Townsman, Bar Mezzana, and more. HGTV star and designer Taniya Nayak hosts the event, there will be craft cocktails, and more.

Rescheduled from May 13, the Red Sox Foundation and Eat Boston return in June with the original Bacon & Beer Festival at Fenway Park. The eighth annual edition features 45 restaurants, the most that have ever participated. Porky bites from A&B Burgers, Brewer’s Fork, Gracie’s Ice Cream, Island Creek Oyster Bar, Juliet, SuperFine, Uni, and many more are on the concourse, accompanied by suds from more than 15 different breweries. Eight 3-ounce beer tastings are included in the ticket price. Proceeds from the party go to the Red Sox Foundation, which assists a number of local charitable organizations.

Red’s Best Lobster Fest
Another excuse to get outside: Boston Public Market vendor Red’s Best is celebrating the arrival of the Tall Ships in Boston with a lobster-filled patio party on the BPM plaza. Just off the Greenway, the fest will feature grilled lobster tails, lobster rolls, bisque, clam chowder, and more, plus outdoor games, live music, local beer, and wine from Massachusetts Farm Winery & Growers.

Summer Beer Garden with Lamplighter Brewing Company
The newest brewery in Cambridge is joining fellow Cantabrigians across town for a summer kickoff with barbecue, cheese, and, of course, beer. The Formaggio Kitchen Annex turns into a beer garden with abundant Lamplighter samples, plus live music, lawn games, and food. Attendees get a Lamplighter glass to refill (and take home).

A Taste of Ancient Rome at Benedetto
We have a lot to thank the ancient Romans for, including cooking tips and recipes that still influence how we cook and eat today. Learn more about the c. 4th century Apicius cookbook with novelist Crystal King, author of Feast of Sorrow, a new story about one of the world’s original gourmands, Marcus Gavius Apicius. Benedetto chef Michael Pagliarini will create a three-course meal with wine pairings inspired by the early cookbook and the new novel, and the ticket price includes a copy of King’s book.
