Trophy House
All is well for children's illustrator Dannie Faber until a grotesque McMansion, complete with tower, is built next to her Truro bungalow. Then a mysterious hate crime occurs, her daughter moves back home, and her distracted MIT professor husband runs off with one of his students. But occasionally inexplicable plot twists don't spoil this elegant novel. Bernays demonstrates equal deftness in depicting her homes of Cambridge and Truro, as well as the demands of middle-aged love.
