It’s Jerry Remy’s World. We Just Live in It

In the latest issue of Boston magazine (Mayor Tom Menino’s sexy face is gazing out at you from newsstands now), we asked the city’s power players to tell us who they think are the most important people in town for our Power Wiki.

Several Red Sox-related figures made the list, but NESN color commentator Jerry Remy did not. This may prove to be a massive mistake. It seems that the RemDawg is bent on developing an empire.

We all know that Remy is President of Red Sox Nation, so he’s familiar with great power. He owns RemDawg’s on Yawkey Way, so he’s already controlling part of our hot dog supply. Now the former second baseman is expanding his reach to sit-down establishments.

Boston Red Sox color commentator Jerry Remy plans to open Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grille next spring just a block from Fenway Park.

The eatery will mix burgers and pizza with upscale fare such as steak and lobster. The restaurant will have 330 seats, 50 of them outdoors.

Those who live outside the city should also consider hoarding pizza and beer now.

If all goes well, Jerry Remy Sports Bars could become a chain of eateries across New England.

“Where we go next – who knows?” Remy said. “We’re just focused right now on getting the (Fenway) one open.”

We here at Boston Daily would like to welcome our new lord and master with open arms in the hopes he is a benevolent ruler.
