It’s unfair to call the Harvard Museum of Natural History one museum. It’s really three: the Museum of Comparative Zoology, the Mineralogical and Geological Museum, and the Herbaria. This means it’s basically impossible for a visitor not to find something captivating, whether it’s the thousands of meteorites, gemstones, plants, animals, and dino bones, or the museum’s showstopper: the 3,000-plus glass models of plants crafted by Leopold and Rudolph Blaschka. SCARE UP SOME HISTORY
For those who like their tours with a side of cheese, Ghosts & Gravestones provides a respite from the ye olde approach to Hub history. Focusing on unsavory characters, myths, and legends from the city’s past, the 90-minute nighttime tour takes you to Boston’s best-known burial grounds and murder scenes. Don’t worry: The tone is more satirical than scary (unless you’re the sort who finds dinner theater scary).
