When Holly Caldwell was a senior vice president at Fidelity, a statement purse was her accessory of choice. But since leaving finance three years ago to pursue her true passion—handbags—Caldwell has abandoned the Célines, Valextras, and Pradas in favor of her own luxe creations, which are dreamed up in an Acton barn-cum-studio and crafted in Italy and New York. The designer’s elegant “Lady Jane” frame bag, with its structured shape, roomy interior, and buttery leather lining, is a nod to the past, but done up in sleek, red-hot patent leather, it becomes a modern classic.
