Under the Hood: Emily Muller’s Sleek Winter Coat

Dark fables and Grimm fairy tales originally inspired this coat by South End designer Emily Muller. “I started off thinking about walking through the cold winter forest in a cloak,” she says, “just the idea of being really cold and wanting to wrap up inside something.” The resulting jacket, which features a cinched waist and structured skirt, is both warm enough to fight winter’s chill and sleek enough for a stroll down Newbury Street. In other words, it’s the stuff of fashion fantasy.
