Sing, Dance, and Hand Jive at the Grease Sing-A-Long

When you watch the 1978 movie Grease at home on your sofa, you might find yourself belting out the lyrics to Greased Lightnin’, Beauty School Dropout, You’re the One That I Want, and all of those other popular tunes that bring us back to the age of greasy hair, poodle skirts, leather jackets, and the classic hand jive. If so, then you are just the target audience of tonight’s Grease Sing-A-Long at the Regent Theatre in Arlington.
Dressing up and participation is fully encouraged. And really, why would you not attend in full Grease attire or not sing at a sing-a-long? Dress up in your own rendition of the T-Bird or Pink Lady uniforms, rock Rizzo’s edgy style, put on Frenchy’s pink poofy hair, or whip out the comb and grease that hair back. You might even try (hint: try) to out-sing lovers Danny and Sandy as they deal with obstacles at Rydell High.
End the night with a hand-jive lesson and some celebratory Grease-style dancing. Then consider snatching up some proper greasy food (like Danny, who orders “a double Polar Burger wit’ everything and a cherry soda wit’ chocolate ice cream”) at one of Boston’s ’50s-style diners—perhaps Mike’s City Diner or South Street Diner.
$18+, Friday, February 22, shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. For more information, visit regenttheatre.com and greasemovie.com.
