Pilobolus Brings Its Bendy Choreography Back to Boston

You might find your semi-regular yoga class challenging enough, but even advanced yoga postures are probably a piece of cake for the dancers of Pilobolus.
The internationally acclaimed dance troupe is known for their innovative choreography, which feature exaggerated contortions and intricate interactions between dancers. The arts organization is bringing their mind-boggling moves to Boston this weekend for their 11th engagement with Celebrity Series of Boston.

Pilobolus was founded by a group of students at Dartmouth in 1971 and takes its name from a barnyard fungus that propels its spores with extraordinary speed, accuracy, and strength. While sharing a name with a fungus isn’t the most glamorous title in the world, Pilobolus has impressed audiences around the world with fluid shape-shifting choreography.
The dance troupe has performed at the Olympics, the Oscars, TED, and more. They’ve collaborated with music video mavens OK Go and magicians Penn & Teller. And because why not, in 2011, Pilobolus set a Guinness World Record for packing 26 people into a Mini Cooper.
Pilobolus’s three shows in Boston this weekend will include five of the company’s forward-thinking pieces, including from their collabs with OK Go and Penn & Teller. Prepare to be amazed.
