People Trapped in Elevator Sing Aerosmith to Stay Calm
You’re young. You’re drunk. You’re stuck in an elevator with eight other people. This is the scenario that one group of people apparently found themselves in when the elevator they were riding at the University of the West of England in Bristol broke down, reports The Daily Dot.
And in an effort to make light of the situation, someone had the bright idea to start singing some Aerosmith. In the video above, which was posted to YouTube and Reddit and henceforth went viral, you can hear people in the elevator singing—or rather, wailing—a pitchy rendition of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” the famed ballad that Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler dedicated to his daughter Liv featured in the movie Armageddon.
True, the song is apropos for an “end of the world”-like situation, but this was not the end of the world, and you’re not Bruce Willis, dude who started it. As many commenters pointed out, this was also a serious missed opportunity to sing “Love in an Elevator.”
According to a commenter who was in the elevator, the folks were stuck for more than an hour, which, granted, is plenty of time for nine drunk people to go stir crazy. As long as we’re comparing a stuck elevator to Armageddon, let’s all agree that the last group of people we’d want to be stuck with when the world ends is a group of drunk people wailing an Aerosmith ballad.
In fact, it even sounds worse than being stuck in space with Steve Buscemi with space dementia.
