Black Friday isn’t just about TVs and toasters anymore. This year, Kappy’s Fine Wines & Spirits in Medford will be getting on a tradition started five years ago in Chicago, when they release Goose Island brewery’s coveted Bourbon County Brand Stout on November 28 in the wee hours of the morning.

The highly-decorated beer has been named one of the top offerings in the world by both Beer Advocate and Men’s Journal. First crafted in 1992, Goose Island’s barrel-aged stout has paved the way for craft beer’s current infatuation with all things big, oaky, and whiskey-steeped.  In addition to the Bourbon County Brand Stout, Kappy’s will also be releasing a limited amount of Goose Island’s other Bourbon County products: Coffee stout with Intelligentsia roasted beans, Vanilla Rye, and Barleywine.

This year’s Medford release will feature partnerships with local artisans Kane’s Donuts and George Howell Coffee who will be handing out free breakfast items to the first 200 beer fans in line. Kappy’s is suggesting everyone arrive by 6:45 a.m. to have the best chance of purchasing the Goose Island products. In Chicago, and similar Bourbon County release parties around the country, as many as 500 people have been known to line up for the beers. Supplies are extremely limited, so get there early.
