Celebrity Series Announces ‘Stave Sessions’
Celebrity Series is offering music enthusiasts in Boston a new way to experience emerging artists this spring with Stave Sessions, a new weeklong festival that will take place in March.
The series of performances will highlight innovative, young emerging artists with genre-bending styles. Banda Magda, for example, infuses Brazilian bossa with French pop. Roomful of Teeth’s a cappella repertoire includes Tuvan throat singing, Inuit throat singing, Korean P’ansori, and yodeling. Max Richter is an award-winning composer whose projects range from the score to Ari Folman’s Waltz with Bashir and music installation The Anthropocene at White Cube, to collaborating with Tilda Swinton and writing music for The Leftovers on HBO.
The new festival will very appropriately take place at Berklee College of Music, on the second and third floors of the school’s newest campus building at 160 Massachusetts Avenue. The intimate and casual space (versus a large auditorium/concert venue) and floor-to-ceiling glass windows will offer concertgoers an upscale cabaret vibe and views of an urban backdrop.
Food and drinks will be available throughout the programs. Tickets for stage-level cabaret seating cost $35 and balcony standing room costs $20. Tickets on sale January 12, celebrityseries.org.
