Get on The Hitch List

Like Yelp for weddings, this new website created by Boston-area bride Alexandra Hynes gathers reviews and insight from former newlyweds.

When Alexandra Hynes got engaged this past fall, this local realized how invaluable word-of-mouth wedding recommendations are. But she found there’s a hitch: Unless your network of wedded friends list is in the thousands, your pool of insight is relatively limited.

That realization led Hynes to create The Hitch List. Officially launching at a super-swank party on June 18 in South Boston’s Ku De Ta, this Yelp-ish site for nuptials will offer Boston-area brides and grooms profiles and reviews of bridal industry leaders.

Hynes hopes to make the site the ultimate word-of-mouth resource for the wedding world—a place where newlyweds can share their experiences with wedding vendors and destinations, from bands to venues to honeymoon getaways. Check out their reviews for key insights into vendors; peruse their vendor pages (still a work in progress) for an arsenal of artfully organized information on leading industry businesses; and read their blog for creative musings, tips, and carefully curated industry Q&As.

And while you’re planning your big day, we’re guessing you could use some perks and pampering. In addition to its insider tips, The Hitch List will offer a bunch of local deals and steals for you and your wedding party. For example, this week, Ku De Ta is offering 10 percent off jewelry for your bridal parties.

Once your own wedding is in the books and you’re an authority, go back on The Hitch List to add what you know. Share your expertise of the vendors you used, the honeymoon you took, or the band you booked. This way, you can relive your wedding day magic, while also helping those who are following your footsteps down the aisle.
