Five Reasons to Leave the House This Weekend
NIGHT AT THE MOVIES
North Allston Outdoor Film Festival
What do your favorite pizza-eating vigilante turtles and Clint Eastwood’s Man With No Name have in common? They’ll both be starring at the Brattle Theatre-run North Allston Outdoor Film Festival this weekend. Bring a blanket to the green pastures of Barry’s Corner to catch first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles then, the following night, the classic Spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars. Come in costume and win prizes and bragging rights.
Free, Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20, 7:15 p.m., 267 Western Ave., Allston. For more info, visit brattlefilm.org.
FOOD
Boston Local Food Festival
Fresh, organic, and sustainable produce is on display at the Boston Local Food Festival. Vendors will offer the best of seasonal Massachusetts crops, game, and dairy products, including charcuterie from Westminster Meats and organic veggies from Red Fire Farm. But taste isn’t the only sense getting the local treatment. A Seafood Throwdown involving chefs from Women of Fishing Families and New England Fishmongers will keep the eyes and ears busy as well.
Free, Sunday, September 20, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Rose Kennedy Greenway, Boston, bostonlocalfoodfestival.org.
MUSIC
MixFest
Free concerts just sound better. So don’t miss out on this year’s MixFest, the free concert bringing Rob Thomas, Third Eye Blind, Andy Grammer, and more to the banks of the Charles River. Don’t dawdle on the way there, either—admission is first come, first served!
Free, Saturday, September 19, 11 a.m., DCR Hatch Memorial Shell, 47 David G Mugar Way, Boston, mix1041.cbslocal.com.
BEER EVENT
