The fire is going out at East Coast Grill: The Inman Square spot known for its outrageously spicy Hell Night, barbecue, seafood, and other bold, globally-influenced flavors will close for good on January 23, the Boston Globe reports.

East Coast Grill opened in 1986, a new venture from Chris Schlesinger, a prolific restauranteur, cookbook author, and culinary educator. Schlesinger sold the restaurant to chef Jason Heard and other staffers Robin Greenspan and James Lozano in 2012, according to Boston Restaurant Talk.

In September, East Coast Grill was featured on the Travel Channel, during the Boston episode of Kristen Kish’s 36 Hours. The show tried its Hell Night: a multi-course marathon of “wicked hot food.” Reservations for the intermittent food challenge are notoriously hard to get.

The Globe reports East Coast Grill will go out in a blaze with “several sendoff events” this month.

Boston has reached out to Jason Heard and the East Coast Grill team for more information.
