John Krasinski’s Awkward Golden Globes with Leonardo DiCaprio
John Krasinski may be a Hollywood A-lister now, but even he still gets star struck from time to time.
The Massachusetts-born actor recently stopped by Ellen and dished about the awkward moments he had sitting with Leonardo DiCaprio and the cast of The Revenant at the Golden Globes.
Krasinski revealed that he had to attend the award show alone because his wife Emily Blunt was out of town shooting a movie, and somehow he ended up at DiCaprio’s table.
“It turns out, when you go stag, they put you at a great table,” Krasinski told host Ellen DeGeneres. “I was at Leonardo DiCaprio’s table and that sounds really cool but I didn’t get a chance to meet him. I didn’t want to be like, ‘Hey man, I’m the guy who doesn’t have anybody.'”
That was only the beginning of Krasinski’s awkward Golden Globes experience as he was stuck in the middle of a few congratulatory hugs when The Revenant started racking up the awards–even though he had nothing to do with the film.
“I felt pretty stupid,” Krasinski said.
Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu, in particular, gave the former Office star a weird look as he left the table to accept the award for best director.
“When he won he said hi to everyone and thank you because they all worked on the movie,” Krasinski said. “Then [he] turned to me and there was this moment of, ‘Why are you here?’ And I was like, ‘Congratulations!'”
