London Restaurant Forced to Rename Its Mark Wahlberg Burger
Unless you own a Wahlburgers franchise, it’s probably not a good idea to name your burgers after Mark Wahlberg.
Lucky Chip, a pop-restaurant in London, recently found out the hard way after receiving a cease and desist email from the actor over its Mark Wahlberg burger.
According to Evening Standard, founder Ben Denner only had the best intentions and named the burger in honor of the Boston-bred star because he was a huge fan of his work.
“When I saw the email I opened it and thought at first it was a joke. I was a bit surprised to be honest,” Denner told the Standard.
The owner added, “I don’t think we’ve disrespected him in any way. Personally, I would have thought he’d be happy.”
The burger in question–which has since been renamed the Dirk Diggler as a wink to Wahlberg’s character in Boogie Nights–is made of an aged Long-horn beef patty, beef short rib, American cheese, coleslaw, Sriracha mayo, and topped with a spicy barbecue sauce.

This isn’t the only pop culture-themed burger available at Lucky Chip. The restaurant has menu options named after Kevin Bacon, the Beastie Boys, and even one called a royale with cheese, a nod to the famous line from Pulp Fiction.
In other Wahlberg/burger news, the actor is heading to Orlando in February for the grand opening of a new Wahlburgers restaurant.
He was also in Boston this week to meet with Gov. Charlie Baker to discuss his upcoming movie that will film in Boston, likely the one based on the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings that he’s producing and starring in. During his trip, Wahlberg stopped by a pub in Dorchester as well.
There’s no word yet on whether Wahlberg will ever venture across the pond to check out Lucky Chip, but if he does, Denner told the Standard that he’d welcome the actor with open arms.
“I hope he comes in for lunch one day,” Denner said.
