Snow Report: It’s Alpine Zone Weekend!
It’s still early, but it appears another major storm is going to miss New England this weekend. It’s a bummer, but don’t despair—some resorts are still due to pick up some snow this week, according to long-term forecasts. Plus, there are some pretty cool parties going on.
Alpine Zone Party Weekend at Sugarloaf
AlpineZone.com is the premier message board site for New England skiers, and for six years running, they’ve hosted a killer weekend at Sugarloaf in Maine. Lucky for you last-minute stragglers, there’s still room to get in to this party. Rates for the weekend start at $159 per person and include two lift tickets and two nights’ lodging, plus access to all the cool weekend events in Carrabassett Valley. Don’t wait, though, because this thing will fill up. It’s one of the hottest weekends of skiing in New England.
BSSC Party In Quincy
On Wednesday, Boston Ski and Sports Club is hosting their second BrewSKI party of the season at Cagney’s Pub in Quincy. From 6-8 p.m., join fellow winter-fun enthusiasts, skiers, riders, and local socialites for a wicked good time. Be sure to sign up in advance to get on the guest list and be entered in the raffle for prizes that include free skis, day trips, lift tickets, and concert tickets from 92.9 WBOS. Tickets are just $5.
Balsams Opening Now Eyed For 2017-2018
The developers behind the massive Balsams project informed the Coos County Planning Board at a meeting earlier this January that they’re now looking at opening the resort in winter of 2017-2018. The project’s start was recently pushed back due to permitting and legislative issues. The Balsams project is based at the old Wilderness Ski Area in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. When fully built out, the resort is expected to cover 2,200 acres, with 22 lifts and a new gondola, as part of $143 million in new investments.
