The Four Seasons’ One Dalton Street Is a Tower of Power
The Seaport and downtown have gotten lots of attention lately, as swank-tuaries such as Twenty Two Liberty and Millennium Tower elevate our skyline. Now it’s the Back Bay’s turn: The 61-story One Dalton will be New England’s tallest residential building when it debuts in 2018.
Height is nothing new these days, but the location and level of luxury are revolutionary, according to Carpenter & Company developer Richard Friedman: “One Dalton is slim and elegant in the middle of a historic neighborhood,” he says. “Plus, we have the best hotel company in the world managing the building.” (That’d be the Four Seasons.)
Friedman knows luxe: He developed the Liberty and the Charles hotels. Architect Henry Cobb, meanwhile, designed the John Hancock Tower, the city’s marquee skyscraper. And interior designer Thierry Despont worked on ho-hum places like, oh, London’s Claridge’s and the Ritz Paris.
Very few cities can claim Four Seasons–managed residential towers, and now Boston is joining the likes of London, New York, and Shanghai.
As such, Daltonians will enjoy five-star amenities that would make a Back Bay brownstone dweller swoon. Want a martini at 3 a.m.? A bartender from the 50th-floor private restaurant will oblige. Longing for the links? Visit the golf simulation room. There’s also a private theater, spa, salon, and health club—plus a 24-hour valet, laundry services, and housekeeping.
At home, residents can take in unobstructed views of the city from floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Many units have private balconies; all have fireplaces. One-bedrooms start at 900 square feet, and four- bedrooms start at 4,000 square feet, with an average expected cost of about $6 million.
“I think Boston is ready for this level of luxury,” Friedman says. Are you? Residences are quietly on presale now.
