Steve Carell’s Mom Died in Acton on the Day before Mother’s Day
Steve Carell announced over the weekend that his mother, Harriet Carell, died just one day before Mother’s Day.
The Massachusetts-born actor revealed in a Twitter post that she had passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday. The tribute, which he tweeted on Mother’s Day, included a simple but touching message which read, “Love You Mom.”

The former The Office star, who grew up in Acton, later retweeted a fan who posted an image of the actor hugging his mother.

According to the Associated Press, Kathleen Doran Boyle, the director of the Acton Funeral Home in Massachusetts, confirmed that she passed away at her home in Acton while she was surrounded by her family.
A former psychiatric nurse, Harriet is survived by her four children, including Steve, as well as by her six grandchildren, according to an online obituary.
