MIT Basketball Player Pleads Not Guilty in Alleged Rape in BU Dorm
An MIT basketball player pleaded not guilty to rape charges, after he was accused of entering a BU dorm and sexually assaulting a student there.
Samson Donick, 20, of Tiburon, California, was arraigned Wednesday and charged with aggravated rape, breaking and entering at night with the intent to commit a felony, and indecent assault and battery.
Police said two female students signed Donick and three other men into a BU dorm around 2 a.m. on October 18. Donick and another man left the suite to find a woman known to the latter, and for the next half hour, the two entered 10 dorm rooms across four floors, police said.
During this time, a 20-year-old female student, who did not know either man, awoke to find Donick sexually assaulting her, police said. He allegedly asked the victim, “Baby, do you want some more?”
BU Police discovered surveillance footage showing two men in a stairwell and retrieved their identification from the sign-in desk, revealing it had been Donick and the other man, police said. The man gave a statement that he and Donick had entered a number of dorm rooms that night.
Donick was held on $10,000 cash bail and ordered to surrender his passport. If he posts bail, he must stay away from BU’s campus and out of Massachusetts. MIT told 7News that Donick is no longer registered at the university.
Donick’s next court appearance is set for June 22, with a trial date in early 2017.
