Mark Wahlberg Treats the Patriots to a Post-Practice Movie
After a hard day of work on the gridiron, the Patriots were treated to a post practice movie hosted by Mark Wahlberg over the weekend.
Owner Robert Kraft arranged for a special screening of the New England superfan’s latest film Deepwater Horizon at the Showcase Cinemas Patriot Place on Sunday night. Kraft was joined by Wahlberg’s mother, Alma, as well as Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Jimmy Garoppolo, Danny Amendola, and several other team players and coaches at the event.
“It’s a great treat to have [Wahlberg] here,” Kraft said prior to the screening. “He specifically wanted to stop here and give us this opportunity to screen the movie before it was made public.”

Wahlberg, who stars as heroic rig technician Mike Williams in the film, hoped that the upcoming drama about the 2010 BP oil spill would serve as a source of inspiration for the squad going into the 2016 NFL season.
“I know the work that you guys put in, the effort and the commitment that it takes to do what you do and what you risk going out there on a daily basis,” Wahlberg said. “I know these guys would inspire you like you inspire them.”
The actor also revealed that the real Williams wanted to say thanks to the team since he’s actually a huge Patriots fan in real life.
“Mike Williams wanted to say a special thank-you, because even though he lives in Texas, he’s a diehard Patriots fan,” Wahlberg said.
Directed by Peter Berg, Deepwater Horizon hits theaters September 30.
