Where to Find National Taco Day Deals in Boston

It’s a coincidence we have been waiting years for: National Taco Day lands on Taco Tuesday this year. Lean on these local taquerias that are all too happy to turn your tortilla-induced cravings into a full-blown Taco Cleanse this Tuesday, October 4. Take a seat, grab a margarita, and let the festivities begin.

Besito Mexican

The Chestnut Hill taqueria is offering a “buy one, get one” deal on street tacos for National Taco Day. Choose among four options: carne asada with scallions and salsa verde; pollo, with grilled chicken breast and queso fresco; camarones, featuring shrimp and salsa molcajete; and pescado, with crispy fish and chipotle salsa.

Canary Square

Chef Tommy Pontolilo rolled out a smoked pork taco special at the Jamaica Plain restaurant just in time for fall. These tacos come stacked with scallion aioli, cheese, pickled onions, and pumpkin seed salsa. If you’re struggling to accept the advent of pumpkin-everything, never fear: the taco will be on the menu for the next few weeks until you’re ready.

Coppersmith

The South Boston restaurant is offering a taco special all this week, courtesy of chef Jason Heard. Each taco comes piled with pulled pork, corn salsa, chili glaze, and cabbage relish. To complete your feast, every order also includes a complimentary serving of chips and salsa.

Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar

Culinary director Tom Berry (Yvonne’s) and executive chef Nicholas Cox revamped the menu at this sexy spot earlier this year, but tacos have always been a draw. On National Taco Day, the kitchen has an al pastor special, as well.

Lone Star Taco Bar

The hand-pressed tortillas from this taqueria have drawn their share of praise from those the Boston area (us included). Rotating taco specials—like the Cambridge site’s seared yellowfin tuna with soy-wasabi crema, available now—keep that momentum going strong each day. The restaurant’s specials change frequently, so stop in and see what the taco roulette has in store for you. There’s no shame in defaulting to a grilled avocado or house-made chorizo taco, either.

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant

Go big with the restaurant’s Taco Gigante, a two-pound taco packed with beef, pork carnitas, bacon, salsa, queso, beans, and much more. Two dollars from every taco monstrosity ordered will be donated to Team IMPACT, an organization that benefits children with chronic illnesses. Even better, every Taco Gigante purchased on National Taco Day comes free with a regular taco, too. Naco Taco

During National Taco Day, the Central Square taqueria is offering three tacos with chips for $10. Customize your combo with tacos like bistec, with grilled flank steak, avocado, and chimichurri; or lamb, which comes with radish, cucumber, and carrot. Owner Alex Tannenbaum is also planning to debut a new fall menu that same day, which includes a new chorizo taco.

The Painted Burro

The Davis Square restaurant is adding a new taco to its menu roster, and it asked regulars for their ideas. You can reap the rewards on National Taco Day, when the Painted Burro debuts the top three picks as a taco platter, and vote on your favorite creation. The taco with the most votes will be given a place on the restaurant’s menu for a week following the celebration.

Tico

For National Taco Day, the Back Bay restaurant is offering five mini Coronas and six tacos together for $30. Arrive with an appetite: chef Michael Schlow’s menu is full of tacos that feature crunchy edamame, fried chicken, pork, and more.

Tremont 647

The South End neighborhood spot from Andy Husbands features a rotating list of $2 tacos every Tuesday, and the current lineup is especially enticing. All this week, pick from tacos filled with fried fish with pickled vegetable relish, spicy barbecue chicken with Alabama white sauce, and root vegetable with goat cheese. For a small upcharge, you can also opt for more savory tacos that feature sesame teriyaki beef with ginger mayo, or grilled shrimp with aioli.
