On Thursday, February 7, Boston’s business leaders, Chinatown arts and community leaders, reps from the events and hospitality industry, and many more came together to kick off the Chinese New Year at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston. The Year of the Earth Pig celebration featured a traditional lai see (fortune) tree, custom Chinese calligraphy for guests, and a lively Lion Dance.

The annual party recognized the luxury hotel’s 10th anniversary in Boston too, with remarks by Mandarin Oriental, Boston GM Philipp Knuepfer. Also on hand, world-renowned Chef Daniel Boulud, presenting a roasted suckling pig and other delicacies from the hotel’s Bar Boulud. Among the attendees included reporter Janet Wu; Boston Athletic Association executive director Tom Grilk; Saks Fifth Avenue Marketing Director Kathryn Green; Emerald Necklace Conservancy president Karen Mauney-Brodek; Kwong Kow Chinese School Board Chair Theresa Tsoi; MFA Fashion Arts Curator Michelle Finamore; Mass.
