Even for a penthouse with a private elevator, this home is more extravagant than you might expect. Of course, one of the most notable upsides of penthouse lives are the views—which this place definitely has. But equally amazing is the roof deck that allows for those vistas.

At 2,302 square feet, the open-air metropolis is more than half the size of the condo itself, and there are no empty corners. There’s a covered kitchen with a built-in grill, multiple lounging zones, an eight-person jacuzzi, an outdoor shower, and plant- and water-filled landscaping. And for true skyline gawking, several basket-like bamboo swings dangle near the edge of the terrace—no need to travel to the Lawn on D for your Instagrammable Boomerangs.

Like the rooftop treasure trove, the loft-style interior strays from the norm. Rather than the typical stainless and quartz fixtures of new renovations, the designer opted for earth tones, natural materials, and rounded furnishings to “create some softness within the sharp, striking edges throughout the unit,” as listing agent Beth Dickerson puts it. Take the chef’s kitchen as an example: Red birch floors lay the groundwork for a curved island in two pieces, topped with wire-brushed fusion granite to create a medley of colors and textures.

The five bathrooms each offer their own notable scheme, too. In one, a vanity looks out at the skyline, and a bathtub with a contoured basin blends seamlessly in with the onyx walls and limestone floors. Another spa-like option goes for a lighter-toned palette, with walls made up of quartzite and porcelain tiles. Lights line the wavy perimeters of the floor and ceiling, making the room look as if it’s floating. Itching to see the surreal feature for yourself? Take a virtual tour through some photos below.
