Blackbird Doughnuts

Although the beloved network of doughnut shops from the Gallows Group of restaurants has presently paused production, you can still get your Blackbird fix via sister restaurant Sally’s Sandwiches. There, slices of doughnut pie are among the online ordering options.

Breadboard Bakery

Brand-new to Arlington in late 2019, this bakeshop is now open a few days per week for prescheduled pickup of treats like ginger muffins, chocolate wacky cake, chocolate-chunk shortbread cookies, loaves of raisin-pecan bread, and more. Owner Daisy Chow, a longtime baker at Clear Flour Bread before opening her own business, is also offering a variety of fresh bread options, pizza dough, and even complimentary sourdough starters. You can swing by for your socially-distanced pickups during select hours on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Dee-sserts Delivered

Best of Boston winner Dee Steffen Chinn is now doing house calls: The Tiger Mama, Sweet Cheeks, Fool’s Errand, and Orfano pastry chef just launched delivery-ready “Dee-sserts” through her personal Instagram account. The first batch of preordered treats will be delivered on Wednesday, April 22 and Saturday, April 25, and includes boxes of “brookies” (brownie-cookies!), PB&J bars, and coconut panna cotta. Honeycomb Creamery

Along with hand-packed pints of Best of Boston-worthy ice cream flavors, this Cambridge ice cream shop offers waffle cone-tacos, “cakewiches,” sundae kits, and other fun treats available for online preorder, curbside pickup, and limited local delivery on Thursdays and Fridays. Fans will have to wait a bit longer to check out the renovations to the shop, which owner Kristen Rummel unveiled just before the pandemic.

The Little Biscuit

Somerville café the Biscuit closed in late 2019, but it has been reborn during these uncertain times at Bow Market. With 24 hours notice, the Little Biscuit web store allows you to preorder favorites like scones, pies, quiches, breads, and more for pickup during designated hours. You can also retrieve them during one of Bow Market’s recurring Safe Supply events, touchless grocery shopping experiences.

Oakleaf Cakes

The show goes on at this Symphony-side cake shop: Among the preorder options for Saturday pickups and local delivery are gourmet cakes, including vegan vanilla confetti and chocolate with fudgy ganache. There are also cinnamon rolls, hot cocoa mix, and regular and vegan versions of “goodies to go” packages stuffed with some of the café’s most popular daily creations. Order by Wednesday night to pick up on Saturday mornings.

Sofra

This beloved bakery on the Cambridge-Belmont line is open Wednesday through Sunday for phone orders, walk-ups, and preordered pickups. Weekly menus are updated on Tuesdays, and you can always expect a world of sweet and savory treats from talented chef-owner Maura Kilpatrick—notions like chocolate-hazelnut baklava, spinach and cheese borek, and Red Dragon iced tea by the quart. There are also lunch and dinner options, as well as bulk provisions, like flour, salt, spices, and nuts.

Third Cliff Bakery

Baker Meg Crowley is just about ready to open her first brick-and-mortar bakery in Jamaica Plain, once it’s safe to do so. Until then, she’s sticking to her pop-up roots and offering baked goods for pickup at her future JP neighbor, Turtle Swamp Brewing Co. Check out the brewery’s online ordering platform to select some Third Cliff treats, including packs of salted peanut butter cookies, brown-butter Rice Krispies treats, and bags of maple-nut granola. Place your order on Thursday for pickup at Turtle Swamp on Saturday afternoon, or for Sunday delivery. Also: Keep an eye on social media to join Crowley for a free “bake-alongs” at home.

To celebrate its one-year anniversary on April 19, this Somerville bakery launched regular weekly pickup hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Choose from snacks like cookies, hermits, and slices of cake—plus owner Sarah Murphy’s signature English muffins, perfect vehicles for spreads like honey butter and apple jam. Order on Tuesday for Wednesday pick-up; order on Friday to pick up on Saturdays.
