Forget all those intertwined swans you’ve seen at your friends’ weddings. These days, if you can dream it, it can be carved out of ice. For ideas sure to make you melt, we asked Caitlin Mahoney, sculptor coordinator at Brookline Ice Company in Brookline, and Craig McConnell, owner of Images in Ice in Brockton, for fresh ways to chill.

BUBBLY’S BEST FRIEND
Custom-made ice bowls are perfect for holding the champagne until toasting time. They can be made in any size and have flowers or photos frozen into the wall.

FROZEN FLORALS
Ice vases or baskets filled with fresh flowers make elegant centerpieces on your tabletops. Images in Ice specializes in crystal balls—resembling oversized snow globes, these ice sculptures can be illuminated from the base, filled with flowers or lit by votive candles.

FROSTY FRESH SEAFOOD
Raw bars made of ice range from a basic slab (edged with a lip to keep those slippery shrimp from sliding off) to intricate sculptures—such as a giant octopus whose tentacles form an icy-cold serving base.

C-C-COLD DRINKS
Imagine a full-size, functional bar—carved out of a huge block of ice. Ice shelves and bar tops keep every last bottle cool throughout the reception.
