Little Landscape

Boston-based artist Jacob Kulin leads a busy life. In addition to designing a new art installation for Symphony Park, in the Fenway neighborhood, he spends his time creating sculpture and custom furnishings for discerning clients. When he finds a moment away from his studio, he practices the ancient Japanese art of bonsai. “For me, spending 20 minutes in the morning working on a bonsai tree is therapeutic,” says Kulin, who’s had his eye on this 75-year-old Australian pine for a while now. “So much time and care goes into these bonsai—this plant’s value comes from its elegant shape and impressive age.”
