ON CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
Blueberry picking at Pippin Orchard [in Cranston] was always perfect in August, when the berries were in season. Now I go with my own kids.
ON LOCAL CRAVINGS
Del’s Lemonade is a real summer treat. The consistency of the shaved ice is like nothing I’ve ever found. It’s perfect in every way, and there’s always a fresh lemon in it.
ON A FAVORITE LANDMARK
We loved having our wedding reception at the Federal Reserve in Providence. It has a huge bank vault in the back, and inside there’s balcony seating that overlooks the dance floor. It has such history and architectural majesty.
ON THE STATE’S BEST SHOPPING
Thayer Street, in Providence, is just about as cool as it gets. It’s got an urban edge to it, with artistic, creative people.
ON HOMETOWN HANGOUTS
I’m such a homebody that my number-one stop is home. Heading down to the beaches is something we’ve loved to do as a family. We’ll watch the ships come in and then head to George’s of Galilee [in Narragansett] for clam cakes and soda.
