Pay Your Taxes, Risk a Car Wreck?
Pay Your Taxes, Risk a Car Wreck? Love paying taxes? Yeah, us too. So allow us to add a side of injury to your serving of annual insult. According to a new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, surveying every Tax Day from 1980 up to 2009, an average of 13 more people will die in car crashes this Tuesday than they would otherwise. Blame it on stress, blame it on distraction, blame it on people being really, really late to file and rushing down to send in their taxes, but no matter which you choose, add Tax Day to the list of other vaguely more deadly days on the road, with Daylight Savings Time, July 4, and Super Bowl Sunday. So buckle up, pay attention, and don’t be one of that 13. Although ladies, in case you were wondering: Friday the 13 is apparently perfectly fine. [CBS | JAMA]
