Jerry Remy’s Is Creating an ‘Athlete Menu’
Jerry Remy’s on Boylston Street has a roof deck that overlooks Fenway Park, which makes it one of the best places to be on game day (except being in the actual ballpark, obviously). To add to the already perfect location, the roof deck just got a brand new retractable roof that will make this upcoming spring’s cold, rainy days a comfortable 70 degrees at all times. And now, just in time for Opening Day, Remy’s on Boylston will launch what they are calling the “Athlete Menu” which will include items suitable for the trendy Paleo diet, vegans, and even some gluten-free options.
The sports bar and grill already has a menu that they call “Rabbit Food & Tree Bark” (it’s also known as the VVG menu showcasing vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options), which features items you wouldn’t think a sports bar type of restaurant would offer such as a tempeh burger (pictured above), a quinoa taboulleh wrap, and gluten-free pasta.
The new menu (which is launching in a few weeks) will feature items that are in line with the Paleo way of eating and will be an updated version of the current VVG menu. Remy’s reps tell us that they recognize that their Boston customers are fit and enjoy an active lifestyle. They also noticed a trend towards more healthy eating, even at sports bars. “You’d be surprised how many people want the Balsamic Garbanzo & Tofu Ricotta Salad instead of nachos,” they said. Since we cover health and fitness on a daily basis and see this first hand, we are not surprised. But it’s exciting that a restaurant is creating an entire menu specially geared towards the active and athletic crowds who frequents it.
