'Field' by Keith Cerone

Field by Keith Cerone

It took just one afternoon in the studio to hook Keith Cerone on becoming a glass artist. As a teenager in western Massachusetts, Cerone got a job working for the accomplished glass blower Robert Dane, helping him cast his eclectic glassware. Fifteen years later, Cerone now lives and works in Boston, where he creates intricate and provocative works of art like Field, shown here. Composed of 110 handblown bamboo shoots, the piece is enhanced by a grid of LED lights below, giving it a stunning luminance. “I chose to make [the shoots] in clear glass in order to take advantage of the optic quality of glass,” says Cerone, who teaches glass-casting at MassArt and is currently working on several smaller versions of Field, which will soon be available for purchase.
