Wahlburgers’ New Fenway Location Will Surely Boost the Reality Show’s Dynamics

Fans of the Wahlberg clan and their mainstream family-owned burger joint, Wahlburgers, have much to look forward to in the next year or so. The Boston Business Journal reports that the new franchise is expanding beyond its Hingham roots to a location in the heart of Boston. Wahlburgers has reached terms for a 4,200-square-foot space in a Samuels & Associates development in the Fenway.

As audiences of the reality show Wahlburgers know, brothers Paul, Mark, and Donnie were really struggling to come to an agreement for their second location. CEO Rick Vanzura was hired to do just that—expand the franchise outside of Hingham.

And yes, an expansion sure is underway. The second official location outside of Hingham will open in Toronto this summer; the restaurant also signed a lease for a 4,500-square-foot location in Lynnfield at the MarketStreet lifestyle center. Vanzura also says that Wahlburgers just signed a franchise agreement to develop five restaurants in the Philadelphia area.

Considering Wahlburgers on A&E was picked up for a second season, it looks like the franchise and the Wahlberg family will have a lot of elements to add to their season arc. While the rookie season was charming and offered a peek into the contrasting personalities of poker-faced Paul, go-lucky Mark, social butterfly Donnie, and kooky Alma, season two is an opportunity to look further into the restaurant’s business and how the brothers manage the new restaurants.

The franchise expanding out of Hingham will also mean that chef Paul will likely have to be flexible with traveling to the new spots. This will surely be difficult as he tries to simultaneously run his other restaurant, Alma Nove, also in Hingham. The time has come for Paul to hire more help and expand his Wahlburgers team, a leap he was very apprehensive about in season one. Meanwhile, Donnie and Mark will continue to have to juggle Wahlburgers duties while maintaining their jobs in the entertainment biz.

But of course, it’ll still be the family dynamics that audiences want to see. With natural bickering between the brothers, Alma’s hilarious antics, and Donnie’s recent engagement, we should still expect for Wahlburgers‘ sophomore season to bring the usual Wahlberg family energy that makes the show so great.
