Boston’s hottest chefs and restaurants are donating their time and cuisine for Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation, which raises funds to fight childhood hunger in Boston and across America. More than 80 of the city’s finest will participate, including Andy Husbands of Tremont 647, as well as Hamersley’s Bistro, Rialto, Radius, Icarus, Gargoyles on the Square, Les Zygomates, East Coast Grill, KO Prime, and more.

Sommelier Smackdown
Gordon’s Fine Wines & Spirits, $65
Wine tasting to the extreme! Four courses, eight wines, and some fierce competition. The best palates in Boston will compete to achieve the most compatible wine and cuisine pairings. Participating sommeliers include Michael Meagher of L’Espalier and Sel de la Terre, and Erin O’Shea from Eastern Standard. Chef Louis DiBiccari and Ian Grossman of Sel de la Terre will cook/mediate. Sandy Block, master of wine and VP of beverage operations at Legal Sea Foods, will participate as guest judge.

The new “culinary couple,” Rialto chef de cuisine Carolyn Johnson, and her boyfriend, Icarus chef de cuisine Bill Flumerfelt, join forces in their respective restaurants for a pair of three-course Sunday suppers priced at $40 per person. Please call for reservations.

Thai New Year Celebration
Pho Republique, $35
Pho Republique will be celebrating Songkran, the three-day Thai New Year Festival of Chef Arnold Sreesuvan’s homeland. During these three days, guests are invited to try a special pre fixe Songkran supper menu, including dessert and a traditional Thai water blessing. The menu includes sunburst pomelo (Asian grapefruit) salad with jumbo shrimp (yum som o) or barbeque lemongrass beef salad, chang mai noodle (khow soy) or cashew chicken, and banana and coconut cake with Thai basil ice cream.

Retro Sunday Menu
KO Prime, prices vary
For Retro Sundays, chef Jamie Bissonnette will transport guests back to the great steakhouses of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. He’s putting modern twists on old school classics like all-you-can-eat prime rib with blue cheese fondue, au jus, onion marmalade and horseradish crème fraiche for only $24.95. Other remarkable dishes include oysters Rockefeller, veal oscar, beef Wellington, clams casino, and American chop suey. Even the desserts are traveling back in time!

Great Tapas Challenge
Tremont 647, $49
Andy Husbands will compete against tapas challengers chef Jason Santos of Gargoyles on the Square (the reigning champion) and KO Prime‘s Jamie Bissonnette. Start the night off with passed appetizers and a sangria reception, followed by a three-course, sit-down tapas dinner with each course consisting of three different small plates, one from each contender. Guests get to vote on the winner!
