Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival

This block party only gets better with age. The annual event will take over six blocks of the South End this Saturday for a day of lively music across three stages, dozens of food vendors, and family-friendly activities including face-painting, inflatables, and an instrument petting zoo.

Free, Saturday, September 27, events start at noon, Columbus Ave. between Burke St. and Massachusetts Ave., Boston, beantownjazz.org.

Freebies
On Common Ground with Capital One 360 Cafes

Capital One wants to win you over with some “common ground.” To celebrate the opening of three new Capital One 360 Cafes, they’re hosting a few special events this weekend, all gratis. The activities planned include:

Extra Appy Hour: Meet app developers as well as your friendly neighborhood @BostonTweet. Download and get free coffee. Thursday, 4-6 p.m., 799 Boylston St.

Savers’ Trail Scavenger Hunt: Follow @BostonTweet on Twitter—he’ll be giving out clues to hidden $50 gift cards in Boston Common. Friday, Boston Common.

Common Ground Picnic: Free lunch does exist, and Capital One is serving it. Saturday, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Boston Common Frog Pond.

Common Ground Concert: Space is limited for this concert with The Field Effect. Go to any of the three cafes through Saturday for a chance to win free tickets. Saturday, 6:30-8 p.m., 799 Boylston St.

Note #1: In addition to cafes at three locations—Back Bay, Coolidge Corner, and Downtown Crossing, Capital One is also setting up a mobile cafe at the Common, which will serve free iced coffee and tea at Charles Street and Beacon Street.

Note #2 to concerned coffee connoisseurs: For the record, the cafes serve Peet’s Coffee & Tea’s full beverage line.

Free, Thursday-Saturday, various times and locations, capitalone360.com/celebration.

In case you didn’t know, Mayor Marty Walsh has been traveling around Ireland this week getting his Galway on. Meanwhile, those of us still in Boston can celebrate all things Irish at iFest, a three-day event with live entertainment (Riverdance!), food (Barbara Lynch!), and—of course—spirits (Guinness, Jameson, etc.)

Comedy
Last Comic Standing Live at the Wilbur

The NBC competition returned this summer for season 8 after a four-year hiatus. Earlier this month, the final five comics kicked off their national tour. Wake up your funny bone this Friday at the Wilbur (or Saturday at the Hanover in Worcester) with Rod Man, Nikki Carr, Lachlan Patterson, and Joe Machi.

$26-39, Friday, September 26, 7:30 p.m. and 9:55 p.m., The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St., Boston, 617-248-9700, thewilbur.com.
