Hot Seat
Showroom, the modern-furniture mecca in the Back Bay, turns 10 this month. Another reason to celebrate: Owner Doug Gates recently added the sought-after Danish line Piet Boon to his Italian-heavy selection. “[Boon] comes from an architectural background, so what he sees and how he translates that into furniture is very interesting,” Gates says of the designer, whose sofas and side tables share floor space with pieces from contemporary heavyweights like Flexform and Promemoria. Boon’s “Kekke” collection especially caught Gates’s eye: “The quilting detail is spectacular,” he says. At once structured and soft, with a buttery leather seat and shapely steel legs, this fauteuil is quite the catch.
”Kekke” powder-coated-steel-and-leather fauteuil, starting at $3,678, Showroom, 240 Stuart St., Boston, 617-482-4805, showroomboston.com.
