Chris Pratt Is Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year 2015

After revealing that Amy Poehler is Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year, the Harvard organization just announced that actor/comedian Chris Pratt will be their Man of the Year for 2015.

The award is well deserved considering Pratt had one of the most successful years in Hollywood in 2014. Starring as the lead role in Marvel’s Gaurdians of the Galaxy, Pratt not only received recognition for his killer bod, but also scored some major cred with the media. He landed a handful of national magazine covers, including Entertainment Weekly, GQ, Esquire, and Men’s Fitness. Suddenly everyone wants a piece of the endearing-yet-very-regular-guy Chris Pratt.

But let’s not forget the role that put him on the map. He starred alongside Poehler on NBC’s Park and Rec for the past six years as Pawnee’s favorite bozo sweetheart, Andy Dwyer. The comedy will sadly wrap up its final season beginning this winter.

In Thursday’s announcement, Hasty Pudding—the oldest theater organization in the country—wrote, “The Pudding is excited to honor a performer who became a bona fide Hollywood heavyweight in the past year, going from lovable supporting roles to headlining two of the highest grossing blockbusters of the year.”

“We vehemently deny that the members of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals are obsessed with Parks & Recreation,” said Jason Hellerstein ’15, the group’s president, in the announcement. “There is absolutely no basis to the rumors of ritualistic weekly viewings of the show at the Hasty Pudding Clubhouse…Joking aside, Chris Pratt’s recent achievements as an actor are outstanding and we could not be more thrilled to host him and celebrate his talent as only the Pudding can.”

Pratt will be featured in the Man of the Year festivities, including a celebratory roast for the actor. This will all take place on Friday, February 6, at Farkas Hall in Harvard Square. Time and tickets have yet to be determined.

Sounds like Hasty Pudding is hosting the ultimate Parks and Rec celebration, and we aren’t complaining. Who’s excited?!
