The Color Me Rad Run Is Coming to Brockton

The Color Me Rad 5K will display its kaleidoscope of color on April 11 at the Brockton Fairgrounds. Not to be confused with the Color Run, which brought its own share of drama to town when it couldn’t secure a location in 2013, this run boasts “double the color” with eight stations spraying the “bold gel color” throughout the course. Reps say that’s the most of any of the competing color runs.

“We took Color Me Rad and turned everything way up,” said race director Scott Crandall in a statement. You just show up in a white T-shirt and you’ll leave looking like you jumped in a swimming pool filled with rainbows.

Inspired by the Holi Festival in India, Color Me Rad reps say that they’ve had more than 1.5 million runners since their event began in 2012.

“We are all about encouraging the fun side of fitness,” Crandall said. “This should be your most memorable workout of the year.” Although Color Me Rad is a for-profit company, a “portion” of the Brockton race’s proceeds will benefit The Greater Boston Food Bank. “The only thing better than getting rad is giving back,” he adds.

Participants get free socks and free photos. Does the city of Brockton also get extra funds when it tries to get that “non-toxic, non-rash-inducing colored corn starch” stuff off the course? Both Atlanta and Lawrence, Kansas had a hard time cleaning up after hosting a competitor’s run. Regardless, if being doused in color gets you moving then that’s all that matters.
