Five Can’t-Miss Craft Beer Events Around Town

Maine Beer Co. Tap Takeover at The Salty Pig

The Salty Pig in Back Bay is hosting an amazing get-together on Sunday, March 15 with chef Kevin O’Donnell’s wide selection of charcuterie, hand crafted pizzas, and an array of beers on tap from Freeport standout, Maine Beer Company. A dollar from every pint sold of Mo, Zoe, Mean Old Tom, Weez, Another One, and King Titus will go toward sponsoring Stephen Greene who is running the 2015 Boston Marathon to support Boston Partners In Education. If that wasn’t incentive enough, Maine Beer cofounder Dan Kleban will be on-hand, and The Salty Pig will also be selling raffle tickets to win one of four cases of Maine Beer’s impossible-to-find Dinner double IPA.

Extreme Beer Fest Saison Showcase

On March 21, The Independent in Somerville will play host to breweries attending the Extreme Beer Fest over the weekend at the Seaport World Trade Center. As far as special tappings go, Allagash’s Century brett saison will undoubtedly be the crown jewel of the evening, but there will also be rare offerings from Lost Abbey (Carnevale), Foundation (Eddy), Smuttynose (2009 Farmhouse ale), Far From the Tree cider, Brooklyn’s Other Half (Brett Saison aged in French Oak Chardonnay Barrels), and more.

Sixpoint Beer Dinner at The Sinclair

Representatives from Brooklyn’s Sixpoint Brewery will be on-hand at The Sinclair in Cambridge on March 24 to host a four-course beer dinner with executive chef Keenan Langlois. Upscale gastropub-inspired fare like Langlois’ Bay scallop crudo, house-made cavatelli with honey brined ham, and duck leg confit will be paired with some of Sixpoint’s signature suds, including Sweet Action, Sixpoint Crisp, Resin IPA and Gorilla Warfare Coffee Porter. The price of admission will also get you a special beer cocktail whipped-up by Sinclair bar manager, Lindsay Whalen.

Night Shift’s Third Anniversary Bash

How has it already been three years? Three years?!? I feel like Jeremy Piven’s character flipping out on John Cusack in Grosse Pointe Blank. Well, it’s true, and the guys in Everett are celebrating with a King Arthur’s Court-themed beer release party featuring new additions to their lineup: Lancelot (a berliner weisse brewed with apricots), Guinevere (berliner weisse with blood orange), and Mordred, an oatmeal stout fermented with maple syrup. All three beers will be available on draft and in bottle, and will come in specially branded glassware. In addition to Night Shift’s full range of offerings, the brewery will also be pulling out a variety of cellared selections such as 2014 Bean Porter, Farmer’s Duel (Art #23), and Pluto, a small-batch sour brewed with raspberries and brettanomyces. Munch Mobile Kitchen will be parked on-site, slinging fried pickles, poutine, and pork belly egg rolls to help soak up all that barrel-aged booze.

Two Roads Pairing at Brass Union

Brass Union will host its next “Brass Pair” night on April 8, featuring beers from Connecticut’s Two Roads Brewing. Executive chef Jonathan Kopacz will be preparing dishes like bluefish rillettes, chilled lobster salad, crispy pork belly, and an espresso-rubbed New York strip to go along with Two Roads Worker’s Comp Saison, Lil’ Heaven IPA, Rye 95, Roadsmary’s Other Baby, No Limits Hefeweizen, and Unorthodox Russian imperial stout.
