The Estate, Boston’s Monumental Nightclub, to Close Its Doors

The Estate, the city’s finest nightclub on Boylston, is closing its doors at the end of the month after a nine-year run as one of the highest-rated clubs in the country.

Emerson College announced its plans in late 2014 to take over ‘The Alley’ come April to build a new seven-story student residence hall. The club opened back in 2006, and was developed by two of the top firms in the industry, Big Night Entertainment Group and The Lyons Group.

While ‘The Alley’ might haunt you with memories of being a sweaty youth with impressive liquor-withstanding abilities, The Estate was suited for a more influential crowd. It’s hosted a number of notables from Paris Hilton to Questlove to every Wahlberg and professional athlete, and was also a Best of Boston winner awarded by Boston. The floor-to-ceiling velvet curtains and high ceilings gave it that dark, sultry vibe. Ultimately, The Estate is a nightlife staple that will be missed.

“It was an amazing run,” Big Night Entertainment Group co-owner Ed Kane said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more proud of the impact Estate had on Boston nightlife. There were so many memorable nights. We will miss the music, the energy, and fun that Estate injected into the Boston nightlife scene.”

For its final run, The Estate has its last three weekends booked solid with big-name DJs lined up for Friday and Saturday nights through March 28. The club will host a closing night party on March 28 with DJ Costa, Jesse Jess, and Malayna.
