Danielle Keefe Joins empowerHER for New Lipstick Line

When you’re walking down that aisle, you feel empowered. Gown in all its glory. Makeup flawless. Hair perfectly coiffed.

If anyone knows your envy-worthy strength that day, it’s Scituate wedding makeup artist Danielle Keefe. She helps brides feel unstoppable with her makeup magic that’s been touted in our own glossy pages, on StyleMePretty.com, and The Knot.

This spring, Keefe is adding a new type of empowerment to her portfolio. Partnering with empowerHER, she’s helping benefit the nonprofit’s mission to support Boston area girls who have experienced the early loss of their mothers. One lipstick at a time.

Twenty percent of April and May proceeds of her new lipstick line goes toward the annual empowerHER Mother’s Day Retreat. This weekend event gives young women who have suffered a tragic loss a chance to come together for skincare classes, sunrise yoga, poolside relaxation, and a special tribute to their moms.

This isn’t just a business venture for Keefe. It’s much more personal. Her very brand stemmed from an early memory she had with her own mom. On her 13th birthday, mom took daughter for a professional makeup lesson where she got her very first red lipstick. Don’t worry. It was a sheer, age-appropriate shade. But regardless, it was a defining moment in her life—and possibly her future career in makeup.

“When Danielle shared this story with me and how much the bonding experience meant to her, the connection to empowerHER was very clear,” says Cara Belvin, founder of empowerHER. “We make sure that young women who have experienced the loss of their mother can still find joy in these small, but life-changing events, whether it be shopping for a prom dress or picking out her very first pieces of makeup.”

The Danielle Keefe Artistry lipstick line features two formulas: a sheer hydrating balm with medium coverage and an anti-aging/lip pumping formula with a heavier pigment. There are 15 luxurious shades to choose from.

“What I love about these formulas is that they work well for casual day wear or also special events and professional photo shoots,” says Keefe.

Danielle Keefe Artistry lipsticks can be purchased online, in her Scituate studio at 259 Stockbridge Road, and at her new studio at 213 Newbury Street in Boston for $23 each.
