Werner Herzog may have managed the miracle of hauling a 320-ton steamship over an Amazonian mountain, but we bet there’s one cinematic challenge that would daunt the great master: the 48 Hour Film Project. Since 2001, legions of Red Bull-slamming filmmakers have written, cast, filmed, and edited mini-movies in the span of a single weekend. The cinematic equivalent of Chopped, competitors are handed the same grab-bag of weird requirements. For the 2015 Boston installment, each film must contain: a character named Shawn or Sharon Middleton (who’s required to be a “wordsmith”); ice used as a prop; and the line “This is the future.” View the supremely fast, cheap, and out-of-control results at the Kendall Square Cinema this week.
