Where to Board Your Pet During Your Honeymoon
Those big sad eyes. Those fluffy bodies lying across your open suitcase. They know you’re about to leave. No guilt here—okay, maybe just a little.
To avoid any stress while you’re away on your honeymoon, treat your pet to one of these upscale kennels around town:
Luxe Pet Resort (1220 Veterans of Foreign Wars Pkwy, West Roxbury): Overnight stays here include daycare. Translation: When Fifi isn’t hanging out in her crate-free, private luxury suite on a hypoallergenic, elevated bed, surrounded by soothing music, she’s doing that ruff-and-tumble dog thing in the playspace. Even cats feel the love here in their own multilevel villas complete with private dining and litter areas. What’s your kitten’s preference—an ocean or a garden view?
Urban Hound (129 Malden Street, Boston): You only want the best for your pooch, and you’ll find it at Boston’s first luxury boutique dog hotel. There’s greenery, aromatherapy, mercury glass, mirrors, and natural light. Their luxury sleep suites resemble bedrooms at the W, designed with custom-made stainless steel and glass for open and airy quarters. A hospital-grade air filtration system, two indoor play parks, and 1,000 square feet of outdoor space complete the package.
Fenway Bark (370 West First Street, South Boston): As a parent, it’s difficult to leave your furry children behind. This is why these pet lovers treat yours as their own. Traditional rooms range in size, but all include orthopedic beds, along with daycare or two hours of private exercise. For your extra-special canine, choose a Luxury Box—an extra-roomy bedroom with veranda doors and at least 48 square feet of private space that faces the indoor park and pool. Some even have cable TV and private Skype services. Their play space has anti-microbial K9 grass and an 18-inch, bone-shaped, deep-splash pool. Feline guests enjoy condos with private litter box and feeding areas, and can either savor alone-time or join the gang in a play room to stretch and romp using cat trees and toys.
