Kirkland Tap & Trotter Offering Celebrity Chef Hot Dogs
Taking a page from New York speakeasy, PDT, which as has become famous for its super-chef hot dog collaborations with the likes of David Chang, Wylie Dufresne, Alex Stupak, and Daniel Humm, Boston chef Tony Maws (The Kirkland Tap & Trotter, Craigie on Main) will be creating his own tube steak dream team this summer. Maws, who has become synonymous with gourmet hot dogs thanks to his signature pork and grass-fed beef frankfurter at Kirkland Tap & Trotter, will invite Ken Oringer (Clio, Coppa, Toro, Earth), Matt Jennings (Townsman), Jody Adams (Trade, Rialto), and Karen Akunowicz (Myers + Chang) to prepare their own unique, limited-time “Top Dog” creation at his Somerville restaurant.
From June to September one guest chef per month will offer their dogs ($16 each) every Monday at The Kirkland Tap & Trotter. Chef Maws will donate 50-percent of the proceeds from the guest chef hot dogs to Share Our Strength, a national charity working to end childhood hunger in the United States.
The four chefs will be on hand at Kirkland to present their hot dogs (see dates below) for the first night of their series. Patrons who visit Kirkland will get a punch card and are encouraged to return to try each chef’s version. Those who successfully order all four dogs will be entered for a chance to work with Tony Maws’ team and create their own hot dog, which will then be featured on the menu in October.
