Still mourning Mad Men? Taking a cue from Peggy Lee and asking yourself, “Is that all there is?” Unfortunately, there’s really no substitute that will fill the Sterling Cooper-shaped hole in our hearts left by Sunday’s final departure of Don Draper and company. But for those looking to stay immersed in Mad Men‘s iconic ’60s universe, a time when Frankie Valli was king of the airwaves (and a time that Mad Men itself had left in the past by season 7, having already arrived in the muttonchops-and-ruffled-collars-adorned ’70s) let the Boston Pops be your balm this week. Starting Tuesday, Symphony Hall is hosting three nights of the Midtown Men, who will perform hits from the era, backed by the Pops.
Midtown Men’s four members—Tony Award-winner Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard, and Tony Award-nominee J. Robert Spencer—are all former stars of the Broadway hit musical Jersey Boys, so they know a thing or two about the ’60s songbook. We’re promised “the elegance of Mancini’s ‘Moon River,’ the infectious rhythms of the Four Seasons, and much more.”
