Reports: Mayor Walsh’s Cousin Curses at Woman During Boston 2024 Meeting

Mayor Marty Walsh’s cousin, Martin F. Walsh, has been identified as the man who witnesses say verbally berated a woman expressing opposition to the Boston 2024 Olympic at a Dorchester community meeting Tuesday night.

When the woman stepped to the microphone and inquired about the possible displacement of low-income residents, Walsh called her a “fucking piece of shit,” according to social-media reports.

Mayor’s Office press secretary Bonnie McGilpin confirmed Friday that Walsh’s cousin—business manager of the Dorchester-based construction workers union Laborers Local 223—is indeed the man pictured in Hurd’s tweet. Martin Walsh could not be reached for comment.
